Back Swing


Working on your backswing can often be difficult because you can’t see the club for all the movement unless you look back as you swing to check it is correct, but we all know that will just make things worse. if you are working on your back swing use this drill and it will develop in the right direction.

1)Once you have set up swing back to waist height and stop check that your body has turned transferring your weight to the back foot and the club with you left arm extended straight points along the line of your toes.

2) Lift your arm up, allowing your back to turn towards the target, with your hands above shoulder level break your wrists back towards the target setting the club parallel to your target line.

3) At the top of the backswing check you have maintained your posture throughout the movement and check your weight feels transferred onto your back foot.

Repeat this drill several times to imbed the sensation of the movement into your conscious mind, then pick a target go through your set-up and play a shot, remember that when working on swing technique try only to reach for 80% of your power and concentrate on your technique.

As you continue to practice, use this drill repeatedly to improve your swing technique. Through consistent repetition, this movement will become embedded in your unconscious mind, leading to better and more consistent backswings.
